About our programme

The Institute of Psychology is one of the best-known and largest centres to study Psychology in Hungary.

The Institute’s size and its commitment to excellence in teaching and research means it is dedicated to train professionals who will possess the essential theoretical and practical knowledge, the fundamental methods of Psychology and who are familiar with the applied areas of psychology on a basic level.

This course equips students with a blend of professional techniques and transferable skills that are highly sought after by employers and that can be used in many operational settings as well as private structures. Our professors and lecturers of experts also place great importance on developing an awareness of ethical sensitivity.

This programme provides a solid foundation for any further MA studies in Psychology, and it also ensures mastering the base modules of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences by providing sociological, philosophical and communicational knowledge.

Base Campus: In the building of BTK (6722, Szeged, Egyetem street 2.) which is right next to the Klebersberg Library where students have access to computing facilities, the Department library and specialist collection as well as other resources.

Required qualifications for admission

0. Hungarian citizens can apply to our programme through Felvi.hu and its application procedure applies to Hungarian citizens. They do not need to take the entrance exam.

1. Applicants who apply to the programme through DreamApply or Stipendium Hungaricum must take an entrance exam.

Details of the exam:

Place of Entrance Examination: Online

  • During the examination, applicants will be asked to join a call (on Skype, Zoom, or other) to share their screens with the examiners and turn on their cameras. The platform of the examination will be shared before the exam and a link will be provided.
  • Applicants who are unable to turn on their cameras or turn off their cameras during the exam are eliminated from the exam. The exam will be recorded.

  • We recommend taking the entrance exam from a desktop or laptop (not on a phone) with stable Internet connection. If you have any technical or network difficulties, please send a screenshot to our secretary (gorog.nikolett@szte.hu) within the following 3 days of your exam date. Late notices of technical issues will not be taken into consideration when asking for a rescheduled date for taking the exam. 
  • If the entrance exam takes place on a platform that has an available desktop version (e.g. Zoom), please make sure to download it. The browser versions might be unstable or interrupt your work with pop-ups.

Preparation for the test is recommended.

For Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship applicants: A maximum of 80 points can be scored for answering the questions correctly. A maximum of 15 points can be scored for the applicant’s motivational letter. A maximum of 5 points can be scored if the applicant has a Certificate of English Language of C1 level of proficiency. A total of 100 points can be scored.

For self-financed DreamApply applicants: A maximum of 80 points can be scored for answering the questions correctly, that is converted into percentages. A maximum of 5 points can be scored if the applicant has a Certificate of English Language of C1 level of proficiency. A total of 100 points can be scored, which consists of the percentages of the entrance exam and the extra points for English C1 proficiency.

2. Certificate of Secondary Education (Senior Secondary School Certificate / High School Leaving Certificate)

Applicants must submit a PDF copy of the original certificate along with a certified English or Hungarian translation if not officially edited in bilingual version. A copy of original transcript of records or result sheet indicating the score and the subjects of the final examination of secondary education needs to be joined in original version along with a certified Hungarian or English translation.

Admitted students must bring the original hard copy of their Certificate of Secondary Education when they come to the University for academic enrollment.

3. Applicants must also submit a Certificate of English Language of B2 level of proficiency, issued by an accredited language center after a successful four-skill examination of English.

IELTS, TOEFL, TELS, Euroexam, LanguageCert or Cambridge First Certificate or Certificate of Advanced English are equally accepted as a proof of English proficiency. Those applicants who conducted their studies in an institution where the medium of instruction was fully English can provide an official statement from their secondary school as a proof.

4. Motivation Letter

For Stipendium Hungaricum applicants, a motivation letter needs to be submitted on the application platform. Characters: min. 1400 max. 4000.
